Nosler Blems VS Overruns

Has anybody done an actual comparison? They claim the Blems are just cosmetic, and the Overruns are ...well... overruns. The way I read that is the bullets, when loaded and fired, will react the same.
What thinks you????

I have r e a d on here probably, one fellow couldn't get his blems to shoot worth a flip. Real scientific I know.
However, I had a Sierra tour before they discontinued them. The gal(s) was/were sitting on stools looking for booboos on the pills going by on the conveyor belt. That job would suck the eyeballs out of my naturally anal head.
I asked what she was looking for as I was barely noticing any differences. Primarily it was draw lines from the swaging. Nothing at all for length, ogive or wgt consistency.....
that I saw. Not saying it hadn't been done elsewhere.....I just didn't notice. Really nice folks.
Side note: putting the plastic tips on is a line slowing, aggravating step in the process .....so they said.

I shoot pistol silhouette and shoot a lot of Nosler blems. Had good results with them.

XP 100 6.5 BR Nosler 140 Custom comp blems 200 yd group.

I use the Nosler 30 cal 165 BT blem in my 14 in T/C Contender chambered in 309 JDJ (444 Marlin necked 30 cal) for deer hunting. I’ve shot 25+ deer with it.

Another cartridge is the 257 JDJ (225 Winchester necked to 25 cal). Son has shot 6 deer in 4 years with it.

I have never gotten blems to shoot correctly but, that was in one rifle. Overruns shoot great and I get them anytime I find them for sale.

I shot many of their blemished 55 and 50 grain BT's in various 223 Rem bolt rifles and there was absolutely no difference in group size or terminal performance.

Nosler blemished never once given me a problem. I've gotten blems with the wrong color tip in them, or CT ballistic tips before they go for the Lubalox coatings, or specific ammo requests that have a cannula on say an Accubond that doesn't have them.

I'm assuming you are referring to shooters pro shop, their over runs come packaged in retail boxes, so they are no different then you'd get retail anywhere.

I shoot plenty of Nosler blems, always get amazing accuracy from them.

I've heard Hornady sorts blems into different groups, with one being called won't group. I have a big stock pile of 180gr ELD-M blems that shoot great, so I can't confirm that. Mainly just discolored bullets.

I have no issues shooting blems or seconds (when I can find them) in most of my rifles and handguns. There is no company doing business in the US that would sell a product that had even a remote possibility of being unsafe when used as intended (unless you're buying Chinese stuff on ebay or Amazon). There are entirely too many lawyers here. QC people are expected to fail some product, and modern production equipment is very, very good. So they fail anything that looks slightly different. It may be discolored, or have a little draw flaw, or just be pointing in a different direction when it comes through. The only products that make it to be sold as blems or seconds are those that have survived all the QC inspections throughout the process, and failed the final inspection. Sure, there are a few that have a more serious problem, but probably not a higher percentage than you can find in retail components.

All that being said, I wouldn't shoot blems in serious competition, apart from maybe handgun silhouette or cowboy action, where a couple of MOA is plenty good enough and most of the accuracy needed is on the shooter. Palma or benchrest, nope. Not that they wouldn't do as well, I just wouldn't have as much confidence in them. For working up loads, casual plinking, adding lead to the berms with the M1, and hunting, bring on the blems. Particularly in something like .375, where retail bullets seem to be cast from rhodium and plated with gold. I bought 500 270 grain .375 seconds many years ago, and I'm down to 49 left. I wish I had bought four or five times as many. I haven't been able to find them since.

I find an occasional blem with a pointing fold gone awry, or some slight mismatch in surface or jacket color. However they have all made the appropriate holes in the targets. I guess I wouldnt use them in a serious longer range rifle match, but theyve been fine in all other uses.
