Nosler 6mm 55gr NBT bullet

Starting to develop a load for my 6mmBR that is "legal" in CA. This is for coyotes. Anyone shooting coyotes with the Nosler 6mm 55gr lead free ballistic tip? Ordered out two boxes of them. The 6mmBR rifle selected has a 1:8" twist 22" long. Hoping to use AA2230 powder. Have had great accuracy results in my 1:14" twist 26" Bbl, 6mmBR using the Sierra 55gr BlitzKing.

I have shot a lot of 55's through the 6 BR with AA2230, unreal accuracy, and best accuracy will be a hot load for the gun. You will have to adjust your seating depth to touch the lands. I will look at some loading data and get back to you on a pm.

FWIW, I looked up the load data for the Nosler 55gr FBHP for my RAR 223 at the Nosler website, and followed the load data for Varget (23.0gr) which the website indicated was the most accurate load for that bullet, and yes it worked in my RAR, 3 shot groups can hide behind a dime at 100 yds on a consistent basis if I do my part.

The 55gr FBBT's need a bit of work still but I've got a load I can hunt with anyway until I can get back to it.

55 Grain Lead free Nosler's

I shoot these only in Northern California at Ground squirrels and Rock Chucks. They are long like a copper barnes leadfree. These are as long as a 80 Grain Lead core. I shoot these in a 12 twist, 14 twist might be too slow.

The same load works with the same POI with the 55 Grain Balistic tips.

I found Keithcandler's posts of Aug 2009. He was working with the standard Nosler 55gr Ballistic Tip. Also Ackleyman's posting of his work with that same powder and bullet. I wound up using 34.5gr/AA2230 under the Nosler 55gr lead free ballistic tip bullet. Lapua brass, CCI450 primers. I do not know the velocity as my Oehler 35P is in another state at this time. Estimate/guess around 3700fps. Shooting equipment is a Harris bipod and a leather "ear" bag as a rear rest. Scope is a Niteforce 3.5x15. The rifle is a Blaser R8 Professional with 22.5" factory match bbl. Twist is l:8".

Accuracy has been in the 1/2" to 5/8" for 3 shots at 100 yds, which is quite good for me.
