Nosler (.243) 85 grain / Out of stock / replacement bullet

Seems as though Nosler isn't making or whatever the reason I cant seem to find stock on 85 gr Partition bullets.
  • Anyone have a few they would part with?
  • Replacement suggestions that would be in stock?

6mm hunting bullets especially Partitions have apparently dried up. My rifle seems to prefer flat base bullets so I have had to also find a partition replacement. Can you move up in weight a little?

I'm trying 95grain Hornady SST's that Midway has for whitetails this year. I also developed a load for 100grain Midway seconds that appear to be Sierra Game Kings but I am down to about 20 and I can't find anymore of those either .

Midway also has 90gr Ballistic tip hunting and 100grain Hornady Interlocks in stock. They also have 85gr Barnes TSX but I have no experience with them.

I guess mfg's have all gone to 6.5's? This is nuts. I went thru this same exercise last year.. I have a lot of 87 gr Vmax's ( for prairie dogs) I guess I could just use them...
I see the SST's looks like they have a cannelure.. Never used bullets with cannelure.

@Beiruty: Which bullet and suppler? thank you.
@timeout: Thank you sir. I was cleaning up loading bench and saw a Ziplock. I remembered someone on this site sold me some 100 gr Noslers last year when I ran a WTB.. So for right now I am good. Thank you.
I do prefer the 85 gr because I have gone thru loading and I don't shoot past 175 yds..

The other bullets with similar construction is the Swift A-Frame. The problem with this is that the smallest bullet they make is .25 caliber.

I suggest looking for A-Frames in the LGS since they are more expensive and might just still be on the shelf.

Otherwise, look for the spitzers or soft points manufactured by just about every maker.

:)

My preferred bullet for the 243 Win for all applications is the 85 Sierra BTHP but if you can't find it, I've used the 90 Nosler BT on deer and it does fine, just avoid shoulder shots.

I haven't tried them but I have an unopened box of Hornady 85 grain BTHP. Have you tried those?

Not only have I tried them - they are my all around go to bullet for the 243 Win. I've used them on varmints, predators, and white tail deer. Match grade accuracy with excellent terminal performance.

On deer, shoot behind the shoulder. A broadside shot in the vital area will drop them. Never lost a deer to them if I hit the deer.

Powders I've used: Varget, IMR 4064, IMR 4350 and H4895.

Mark, I have a bunch of 95 grain Partitions and 100 , 100 grain Partitions I was thinking of listing anyway if interested. A buck each plus shipping. PM me.

Appreciate it fellas. I remembered / found some 100 gr Partitions I bought in January.
when I burn the 19 rounds I have I’ll work up a load for the 100 gr. Thank you all again!
May also order Bue Collar and buy some Hornady at ~$.27/ bullet.
