I decided to work up a varmint load for my .223, and I wanted something cheap but accurate. With lots of reloading stuff unavailable, I decided to try out Nosler's Varmageddon bullet, and the only thing I could find was 40gr and 50gr. Nosler didn't have data on the 50gr on their website, but I figured it must be similar to the 53gr that was sold out. I was wrong. After waiting several weeks, Nosler finally responded to my email and said the BC on the 50gr was 227, but the advertised BC of their 53gr is a whopping 303. I saw that Midway had Benchmark back in stock (at least they did yesterday), and they also had the 53gr bullets, so I got both. My question is can anyone verify that the 303 BC is real? Nothing else comparable that Nosler makes comes even close to that number. Either they stumbled upon the magic weight for that bullet design, or they had a nice tail wind during testing.
