Northwestern Gun Club 9-11 Memorial Match in Duluth, MN Another National Record

Another National record was set Sunday up at the Northwestern Gun Club in Duluth, MN. Congratulations to Jon Clauson, aka Nosualc, shot (4) 200-18X strings at 500 yards on Sunday. According to NRA records, this beats the current 200-17X record. Doing this once was an accomplishment, but doing it four times was amazing. Not much wind, but shooting directly east into the sun with the Northern MN fog and haze was very hard for the first relay on both days.

On Saturday, Jon shot a 200-19X at 300 yards, just missing another record. Jon won all the F-Class matches for the weekend. Adam Schidla, aka Fpskills, was close behind Jon all weekend.

Jon was shooting a 6mmBRX smithed by Stan Ware. The first time on the line earlier this summer, Jon shot a 200-19X with this rifle at an Approved match. I shot next to Jon both days, it was much fun to watch his target come up X's all weekend. No worries of cross-firing, if the target to my left didn't have an X scoring disk, I needed to look where I was!

Great shooting Jon, it was fun sharing the same firing point and pulling for ya. But I've got to admit you were kind of favoring the right edge of the x-ring... You might want to work on that for the next time! We were all pulling for ya and joking on the pits saying that you dropped one,and somebody would say "a point" and I said "no an x"! Again good shooting!

Rod, you'll have to swing over and shoot in the trees with us next year!

Thanks guys.

It was a great weekend on a beautiful range with a fun bunch of guys. A really nice way to end the summer.

Note: always bring rain gear, no matter what the forecast says. ;)

Jon- Congrats on the shooting. It doesn't surprise me though as I have seen you shoot and your consistency is "machine like". Keep shooting like this and we'll have to find you a 1/4 minute x-ring target JUST for you!!! We had a BLAST out in Moffit with the 15 gusting to 25 winds. 7 minutes of wind was the norm and one relay on Saturday most of us needed 10-11 minutes..and that is with a .284. Pretty sure all the blowing dust was moved to the next county by Sunday and we only had to hold 6 minutes the other way!! Keep up the great shootin my friend!! Eric in DL

Way to go Jon, you must have continued the "dont change a thing policy". My goal next year was to beat you but you keep raising the bar higher and higher, I think we might have to start using the handicap policy like in golf with you.
Congrats
Mike
