Norma VS. lapua?????

Phil

The general concensus i have seen is that lapua brass is superior to norma brass.

I know that norma is more expensive than lapua in most instances.

What makes lapua a superior product???????

What are the diffrences between the two?????

Thanks
Phil.

I may be the wrong guy to answer this, since I'm obviously biased, but it comes down to consistency. Norma makes a fine product, no question about it. So does Lapua. But the Lapua seems to be a bit sturdier and the tolerences are a bit tighter. Both are leaps and bounds ahead of most of our domestically produced brass, but the Lapua products are the choice for the lion's share of top-end competitive shooters.

In my experience the Norma is a tad 'softer',but not by much) while the Lapua sometimes is more brittle,I had a lot in .243 that only went 4-5 loadings before necks started to split - which is rare I'm told by others). Both have consistent wall thickness and drilled primer holes, though recently heard that Norma may be punching theirs now). Frankly with all of the comparison tests between Rem., Win., Norma, Nosler, and Lapua - Remington and Winchester are not bad choices at all. Might have to neck turn the necks but they are a lot more consistent than they used to be and half the price. A lot of champion shooters use them for Palma and Long Range.

Are you sure that Lapua drills theirs? I recently bought 500 6.5x284 Lapua brass and the flash holes are not pretty. I also bought 500 Lapua 6br 2 years ago and they too have holes that looked to be punched. While out of the 200 pieces of Norma I own flash holes look great,2 diff. lots).Must say I'm alittle disapointed in my last purchase from Lapua because it wasn't cheap.

I believe that Lapua flash holes are punched, while Norma's are drilled. There was a thread on this a couple of years ago.
