Norma TAC 22LR?

http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/2013/11/bullets-com-has-22-lr-rimfire-ammo-in-stock/

Didn't know it existed 'till I read your post. Price certainly is 'reasonable' if 1) it's what retailers are actually charging and 2) you can stumble onto some on the shelf someplace.

Bullets.com has it in stock too... may buy some just to try out. Subsonic I usually avoid for my needs but 1,100 fps ought to work. Thanks for your post!

Indeed it kinda slid under my Radar as well. I shoot prone Small Bore NRA so the search for quality 22 that wont break the bank and still shoots is an ongoing thing.

Russ your choice of discipline is more exacting than my indoor 3 & 4P stuff during the off-season. Practice starts in a couple of weeks, rounds I just ordered ought to be here well before then.

You see this? (Found via Google:)

I used to shoot alot of 3 and 4P Indoor stuff when I lived in NorthDakota. Funny I had once used Federal Lighting for a winter when I didnt have any money and shot alot of CLeans with it at 50 feet. Most ammo is plenty good for 50Feet. 100 yards is a whole nother animal nowever. Unfortunalty I had wasted alot of Great shooting ammo on Sectional and State Indoor championships when I could have used a lesser quality ammo with the same result. Oh to have that Early Federal Ultra Match back.... Or that one lot of R50 that shot like a house of Fire.
Winter is for indoor Gallery...

I have used several bricks T 22 trying to find a substitute for Eley black box for our unlimited benchrest matches at 75 yards. Also tested Geco. Norma made in Sweden or Finland. Geco made in Germany. Both have the same mark on the brass heads as RWS. They shoot like lower grade Eley. The Geico comes in two grades 1)for autos 2) for bolt guns. All will cycle a smooth autoloader. My bench rifle is Baity action, Jewell trigger, Benchmark two groove, Von Ahern tuner, McMillan edge, Weaver T36. Shoots in the 2s and 3s with an occasional 1 at 75 yards outdoors with BlackBox. LT

Hi, I have shot a few boxes of the Norma ammo in 2 rifles, CZ 455 sporter and a Zastava 22. At 50 yard I had 5 shot groups ranging from 1/4 to 1/2 inch. I could improve on that, I chose a scope unwisely on Cz, it wouldn't focus down to 50 yards so sight picture was fuzzy. The Zastava with a 3x9 scope shot almost a one hole 5 shot group at 50 yards, it really liked the Norma 22 ammo. It shot several small groups, mostly all touching or smaller, that surprised me for an economical rifle. It was grasshopper season here so a little piece of fruit was shared among several shooters, for great varmint hunting and messy targets! Soon group shooting was abandoned.

Norma TAC 22LR is said to be loaded by RWS in Germany to Norma's Spec. Both are partners or sub companies of the RAUG brand/ company.
Im hearing some wide variences for this ammo. If it wont hold .7 inches at 100 yards in good conditions then Im not intrested. .25 at 50.

I'm on my second brick of Norma TAC. Have an old BSA model 12 martini rifle, bull barrel, parker hale sights and etc. I will not say the TAC shoots better than the more highly regarded Eley Tenex lor RWS 50/100 (for example) or other better known/regarded Match ammo, but it does shoot quite well for me at a much lower cost.

Yep, Norma TAC ammo is made by Ruag-ammotec to Norma specs......got this from a reply from Norma to a gent on Rimfire Central who'd emailed Norma for who made the TAC ammo.

Been some nice comments about the Norma TAC on Rimfire Central website.

P.S. Every shooter at range I'm a member who has a decent target style 22 rifle that I've given some of the TAC to try, were favorably impressed with it.

Tried the Norma TAC in my custom ruger 10-22. In this particular rifle it shoots super- one ragged hole a 50 yards-haven't tried it in my super accurate bolt guns yet.

Got some this last week and tested Yesterday in my Anschutz 1712 with Lilja barrel. Using a cheap front and rear bag set-up at our silhouette match in enough wind requiring 2 MOA compensation at 100 meters.

Results reported in center to center:

40 meters .25"
60 meters .35"
76 meters .375
100 meters 1.00"

Needless to say for $5.24/box ammo I just ordered more.

Meters, huh? That's certainly encouraging! Can't wait now for the bricks I ordered to arrive! (It'll be awhile before I get to shoot any though, too much to do here before we get our first frost :-) )

That this stuff is reported to be made by RWS but to Norma's specifications is worth noting. RWS and 22LR ammunition sold under the Wolf logo are manufactured on the same production line; both 'brands' have two products sold at different price points. If the Norma product is at worst in between the others in quality but priced closer to the low end it's a good thing indeed.

I have been shooting it with others for about 6 months now? I like it. I shoot a BSA MKII, Win 52D's off the bench and I can hold the .25 at 50yds with no problem with it. My only issue so far has been the rare but occasional hot load flyer. Zinging along doing x's across the card and 'bang' 2 rings up. Other than the single sipper, it works fine.

I just found a couple of boxes at a gun shop. I used them in my Remington 541t heavy barrel and I really like it. I do not shoot competition but it shoots very good for me. I have tried several types of ammo and this was the best for groups that I have found. It shot better than some of the Eley in my gun.

Use it exclusively in full custom 10-22 shooting ABRA. Agg sufficient to place me second in state of Texas last time I looked (pure Agg, not 'agg plus points'). It varies lot to lot, with a poor lot throwing5-6 flippers per card---not good enough for practice, decent lot throwing 2 flippers/card and scoring 180-185 max, good lot has zero flippers and scores 190-194. Price has dropped. Availability has increased. We'll see if quality is maintained. Seymour

I've tested it in 4 Anchutz 1700's and the best groups I got were .3's from a 1712. In a Cooper JSR, it was no better than half inch groups. A CZ full stock liked it best with avg of 5 groups of 5 rounds at 50 yards just over 1/4". Admittedly, the CZ shot from a different lot than the others. Also had the problem with a few shooting hotter and higher. The lots I've tried, except for one, weren't competition quality. JME.

I shot a 5 rd group at outside .4025" or .1800" CtC scored with it last week or so. Win 52D with gain twist Bartlien barrel. I now have two of their barrels on two 52D's and both drive tacks all day long. I also have 4 bricks of it sitting in the ammo locker, along with all the other high end stuff.
