Norma,Remington,Winchester,Brass Thickness.

I was talking to friend, discussing brass thickness,it has been suggested to me that Norma brass is thinner than Winchester and some others in 270 & 30.06 the two calibers I mention is what we shoot,I have 270,he has 30.06 Ackley improved, can anyone confirm whether this is so.

About the only way you're going to find out is to section a few cases & measure. The other option is filling the case with water & weighing each. More water = thinner brass = more volume. Velocity will also give you some clues, less volume with the same powder charge = more pressure & velocity.

that makes sense ! next time I have a case neck split on a Norma and Winchester I will dissect & measure, water test I can do, thanks for taking time to answer. C.K.

IMHO,
You should weigh the cases, to find out the info needed, with ANY brass be reloaded.

I have found as much as 10.0grs weight difference between the major brands/makes of brass just for the 300 Win Mag case, and I am sure that the variance is in all brands/makes of brass.
We water checked the internal volume and what a difference, finally found enough brass that was close to complete loading etc.

I personally keep all brands/makes the same for reloading, regardless who made them, to be as consistant as possible, they are put into their own little plastic boxes to reside together, until lost or used up. YMMV,
