Norma 6PPC brass first try

New barrel and old Lapua brass was giving clickers so I came onto some new Norma. Out of the box the shoulders are .0035 short of the fired Lapua brass out of this barrel which is .001 shorter than where I would have sized it to but close enough, with a bullet seated the necks measure .2658 and my chamber is a .268 so that should work also.
It is almost 3 grains lighter so I figure I’ll have to retune the load.
I loaded up 5 rounds with exact same load from the Lapua brass that was at 3420 and they went 3390 and 4 went in group with 1 outlier ,, I bumped powder up a little and shot 5 more that went back up to 3420 and all went in group. So I loaded 6 more and shot the rest of target.
Not too shabby for no prep and loaded straight out the box.

I’m planning on going to Jackie’s Sat. , I haven’t shot a match since April.

This barrel is 25” long and faster than any I’ve had. With the Norma brass I’m at 28.2 , I was at 27.9 with the Lapua brass for the same speed.
The previous barrels all took .4-.6 more powder to get that speed.

Fwiw, lt32 loads about a grain faster than n133.

Keep us posted on brass life. I haven't shot Norma brass in a long time. It was always good but the primer pockets didn't hold up at higher pressures. Your load is warm but not hot, ime. Hopefully it holds up good there for ya.

That’s where I like to shoot. I think it stays in tune better there than trying to throttle it all the way up. If it’ll just last long enough to wear a barrel out I’ll be happy with it

You should find something very quickly

28.0-28.5 is a common sweet spot

Yeah man. I was pleasantly surprised,,when I left home i figured I’d at least get this brass once fired. Lol

Jury’s still out on primer pockets but for brass loaded straight out of the box it shot well for me Sat at the Ky State UBR match
