Norma 6.5mm 130 grain Match bullets in a 6.5 Creedmoor?

Has anyone tried this combo using H4350, Varget or RE-15? I got a box of 500 at a fire sale price apparently because they aren't very popular. It's my understanding that they work better with a long throated chamber. I'll use them to sight-in my scope and barrel break-in if they aren't useful otherwise.

New Bergara 6.5 Creedmoor 22" is enroute as we speak.

If there are any left, on sale, BUY THEM!!!!!
It's an very good bullet, with an outstanding accuracy and they are easy to work up.
I am using them in both x55 and .260 Rem, where they deliver 0.5 groups on any distance.
They are doing best, around 2880 fps in a 1:8 barrel.
Norma are making a factory load in 6,5 x 55 for field target, that runs 2980 fps, from a 26' barrel with this bullet and they promise 0,7 MOA from a SIG 200 STR standard rifle.

OK, I did a load work-up using these bullets (Norma 6.5mm 130 grain Golden Target) in my new Bergara 6.5 Creedmoor. 22" barrel velocities.

New Lapua brass
CCI-450 primers
H4350 powder.
OAL 2.835" which is a .010" jump to the rifling in my new rifle.

39.5 grains - Average 2553 fps - SD 08 - mediocre accuracy.

40.0 grains - Average 2592 fps - SD 15 - around 7/8" group for five shots @ 100 yards.

40.5 grains - Average 2614 fps - SD 14 - around 3/4" group for five shots @ 100 yards.

41.0 grains - Average 2650 fps - SD 12 - around 5/8" group for five shots @ 100 yards.

41.5 grains - Average 2665 fps - SD 11 - around 1" group @ for five shots @ 100 with an obvious flyer.

42.0 grains - Average 2704 fps - SD 10 - mediocre accuracy. Barrel heat interfered with sighting.

42.5 grains - Average 2737 fps - SD 17 - mediocre accuracy. Barrel heat interfered with sighting. ".

2737 fps from a 22" barrel is around 2850 fps from a 26", 2950 fps from a 30". I may be maxed out. I will try 40.8 grains and 41.2 grains next time out. I will also try a little warmer.

No pressure signs, easy bolt lift, very light recoil on all but the last two loads. They were light recoiling as well, but not like the first five loads. I may have room to go higher, I normally refrain from using loads that are maximum unless they are laser like.

Kevin, I just got a Savage LRP in 6.5 CM and was hunting around for info on the cartridge when I came across this post. Not to go to far afield but I was thinking of picking up another rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor or 6mm Creedmoor. My choices were pretty much between another Savage, the 10 BA and the Ruger Precision. Then I read this months American rifleman and saw the Bergara HMR. I see it is chambered in both of the CM cartridges. Which model do you have abd how do you like it so far. Best accuracy?

I have the 22"barrel HMR. As far as I know they only offer it in .308 and 6.5 Creedmoor. I purchased the Lapua small primer brass which is highly regarded. Since I'm just getting started with this caliber and the rifle I feel that any opinion that I have is limit. I have only run 30 rounds through this rifle looking for a general range to concentrate my focus on. I'll be loading more ammo using the same components and OAL". 40.7 grains, 41.0 grains and 41.2 grains in an effort to work close to the best group fired.

For an out-of-the box rifle I'm impressed. I paid $1000.00 after all was said and done. This (to me) is a very reasonable price for the rifle based on my limited time with it.

Just decapped my Lapua 6.5 Creedmoor brass and made a strange discovery. Starting around 41.0 grains I'm getting slight firing pin protrusions. But that isn't the end of the story. Bullets will barely slip back inside the fired case. The neck only allows for .001" to .002" of expansion to release these bullets.

I will take more measurements, but approximately 1/3 of the fired cases actually had slight resistance to inserting the bullets in a fired case mouth. All the others had very little clearance. Is Lapua brass thicker than other brands or is my chamber too tight in the neck area? I have never tried any other ammo or brass.

Im from Sweden and have shoot alot of Golden Target in 6.5x55. They are Good and in Sweden very inexpensive. But if the Price in US match Lapua scenar I would pick the scenars. They are more accurate.

Now, om building a creedmoor in a rem 700 action and im going to set the chamber for 130 GT (got tons of em). Im clueless becouse my experience with GT and 6.5x55 is that it likes a good Jump.

Same here.
The GT 130gr is the actually the cheapest mid-weight 6,5 cal. bullet in Slovakia.
I shot them with good success in 6.5x47. And yes, they need jump. I got best results with 0,5mm jump (ca. 0,02") and velocity around 910m/s (ca. 2985 fps).
Also agree that Scenar is more accurate. My rifle likes the Scenar-L 136gr.
