Norma 6.5 Grendel brass?

Anyone used the Norma 6.5 Grendel brass? I'm considering trying some in my 6mmAR instead of the Hornady that I have been using. The Hornady is fine but seems to pretty soft. I know the Lapua brass works well, but I am curious about the Norma. Thanks for the info.

I just looked up the price..Wow! JMHO, but the Lapua brass is great and 35% cheaper. The norma would have to be something beyond special before I'd consider it over Lapua. The Lapua Grendel brass is as good or better than any brass, for any cartridge, that I've ever dealt with. Outstanding, really. I'm surprised that Norma has started making it. The cartridge is wonderful but still seems like a boutique cartridge in terms of popularity vs many others. I hope the Norma is as good as the Lapua because I kinda doubt there is enough demand for premium brass for this caliber to support both Lapua and Norma making it. Hopefully I'm wrong and both are excellent and remain available long term.

This doesn't answer your question, but I've used Lapua/AA brass for years in the Grendel. Some cases have 10 reloads on them. The only way I've lost any is split necks. I anneal, but still lost a few to necks splitting.

I don't know how any other brand can take the pounding that Lapua does.

I've never considered even trying Hornady in the Grendel.

Same here, should I feel the need for cheap brass I just snag some 7.62x39 and form them. Works for varminting and less worry should they get lost.

Norma brass in 7rsaum is excellent and a huge step up over Remington, but alas no lapua available there.

Well I ordered 200 pieces, we'll see how they do.

I don't doubt they'll be fine and last longer than the Hornady. The only thing I ask is for you to give us a quick synopsis of them when they arrive (weight and flash hole size are what I'm interested in)

Are you shooting a straight 6mmAR, or the Turbo 40? I keep wanting to try a Turbo 40 but have to many frying pans in the fire. In truth I would probably go FatRat as I would assemble it myself, and the last time I checked Whitley only sold complete uppers. At least that was what I understood.

I will let you know how they measure when the get here today. My AR is technically a 243 LBC barrel from BHW, but it is just 6.5 Grendel necked down, no improved shoulder or anything.

Understood. All of the variations of the Grendel/LBC gives me a headache. My first chamber was on a factory AA Overwatch. My second was a Satern 6.5 Grendel with the short freebore. Some had problems with this chamber I understand, but I really like it. I can jam quite a few different bullets at max magazine and my rifle likes it that way.

I only need a flimsy excuse to try the Improved 6mm versions.
