Norma 202 powder - stabil?

I just picked up a few pounds of it and I'm looking to load it for 223/5.56 and 308.

What I have read about it is favorable to the large degree, but I haven't come across mention of the temperture stability of it. I can do my own stability/heat-soak tests later but I'm just curious if anyone has any experience w/ it.

I've read where several folks claim it's exactly Alliant Reloader 12, just packaged under the Norma label and held to tighter lot/lot consistency. I don't have any experience w/ Reloader 12 either and don't know for a fact if it's true though.

I too read that Reloader 12 comment... which doesn't inspire Temp stability confidence.

I've shot a little of it with 77 and 69 gr SMKs. 23.0 and 24.5 grains respectivley...

Got 2648 fps (77s) and 2836 fps (69) both with SDs of 9. Shot from a 20 Colt Match Target Hbar using a Magnetospeed Chrono.

thanks markm87. Good SD on those loads. How'd they group for you? Did you stop at those load specs for accuracy, for pressure, or just that's as far as you got?

I would be okay with the powder if it shoots well. I would love it if it also shows to be at least on the moderate side of twitchy for temp sensitvity.

Given the options, or slim pickin's such as they are, I thought I'd give this a powder a whirl. I am surprised by the lack of responses though. I would've thought more folks here would have experience w/ it.

It sure does seem hard to come by the intermediate burn powders for some strange reason lately ::)

Haven't really given the load a lot of developement. Just established a baseline pretty much.

I chrono ALL my 223 out of an Iron sighted Colt Match target Hbar for comparability on data... but the load did shoot pretty good out of an optic rifle. You have to work hard to make a Matchking shoot bad though... ;)
