Non L.E. Wilson case holder for Wilson trimmer

I love my Wilson stuff.

It does not love me.

Everything I touch from Wilson suffers from my rusty paws. Plenty of non reloading stuff suffers as well...

Anyways

I have ruined a number of case holders for my Wilson trimmer, inside and out, just from residue that my fingers leave on the case holder and the brass (thus how I manage to rust the inside of the case trimmer). Ditto their inline seaters. I understand that the type of steel Wilson uses for these products was selected for its high machinability. In no way am I griping about Wilson, I want that to be clear.

Currently, I wear nitrile gloves to try and preserve the Wilson equipment that I have (the new stuff I haven't ruined yet) and while effective, I find that the loss in dexterity has me dropping cases which inevitably land on their turned necks.

Does anyone know of someone/someplace making case holders which work for the Wilson trimmer that are made from something like 416 Stainless or similar? I know that I could get my gunsmith to make something for me but if I can find a quality product already available it would save him the effort and free him up for more important things.

Josh, I have had similar problems and my solution was to have all of mine Cerakoted on the outside. The bore seems to stay pretty rust free. Have used mine for several years with no more problems. I also had all my carbon steel Wilson seaters Cerakoted and have had no more rust problems. Good luck with yours, it is an aggravating problem.

I feel your pain. My solution was to tumble the case holders in corncob treated with new finish car polish. Tumbling removes the surface rust and new finish puts a coat of wax on the steel. Its not completely foolproof but it helps

I don’t know if anyone currently making any case holders for Wilson turners I myself have made a few that worked fine but I have had the same issues as you especially in the hotter months so what has been working for me when I get done with a session of loading or turning I step out of my loading room and hose my die or case holder off with brake clean, let dry then hose it down with wD-40 or something similar and let it drain off and put it away. Haven’t really had any issues since I started doing that. As Brian mentioned I have tumbled my already rusty ones and seemed to clean right up although once it’s rusted it dis colors the finishSome what even if you use steel wool on it,..... good luck.

Had a seating die develop a little surface rust I polished it off with Scotch Bright. Now I keep all my Wilson tools wrapped plastic bags and have had years of no more rust. Some people's body chemistry makes tools they touch rust. Have a Starrett telescoping gauge that I allowed one of my guys use and never got the rust staining completely off.

I had the same problem and started buying the stainless dies. I also put a coat of paste wax on my case holders.

Anti rust paper. Brake Rotors, Clutch parts come wrapped in it. I have some I could send ya, PM me your address I'll drop it in the mail. I haven't had that happen to mine but I live in a dry climate.
