NOE expanders

Anybody using a Lee universal expander but with the NOE expander plugs? Seems like a cheaper way to get an M type expander in multiple calibers. Only draw back is having readjust the die when you switch out the plugs. I'm looking to get .38/.357, 9mm, and .45 but like some feed back before buying.

For me, it was better to just dedicate tool heads and spend less time than it was to try and economize on dies.

That trade-off developed over a long time, so you do what you have to while your budget changes over your lifetime. When I had to pay for gymnastics, dance, tuition, etc., I did what I could and sometimes that meant slinging wrenches more often. As the salary grew and the kids grew up, it became much easier to pay for more tooling and automation than when I was young. Take your time and think long term.

The Lee expander/NOE plug combo works great. Economical and makes for precise and straight seating, with proper bullet pull. I highly recommend them!

Curious, will the NOE plugs work with the Lee powder through expander dies or do you have to use the Lee universal expander die. If they do then all I have to do is buy the plugs.

I have one I got for some thicker 32SWL brass. Exact thing: Lee expander and NOE plug. Works well, though I went to a thousandth-smaller bullet and don't use that setup anymore.

It's worth it to do some measurements and figure out exactly what you need and bounce that against NOE's specs. They make multiple expanders for a given caliber as I remember.

The NOE plug I have is a solid machined piece. No powder-thru.
