Nodes for the 185 Juggs?

XTR

F-TR obssessed shooting junkie
I know the node for the 185s that falls in the upper 2700s to low 2800s. Has anyone ever been able to find a higher one or is it unreachable due to pressure issues.

Wow.

How long of your barrel to push those above 2700 - 2800?

I only satisfy better lower node at 2590 from 24" barrel.

I've run them pretty well at about 2840, but when they got hot they went faster and shot like crap.

I was running a 11 twist 28 inch barrel with 47.6 gr Power Pro 2000 MR and i was over 2800 also with the juggernauts or hybrids. With the 200 hybrids i was running 2650+ with 46.3 grs. Both were very accurate loads but fairly hard on brass. After 4 or so firings i would chunk the brass as the pockets were getting loose.

How does P. P. 2000 compare to varget in temp. sensitivity.? I'm running 2720 with 185 jug. 44.1- varget- kvb7- 30" kreiger and thats max would like a higher node but it has to be stable.

Where do you guys live and shoot or how hot is it when you are running over 47 gr? I get ejector marks at 46.5 to 47 grains depending on the barrel I'm shooting. The primers look fine, but slight ejector marks.

It was 94 degrees the last time I tried it. It was 98 today, and I was skeered to load that high. I can pull it off if the temps are in the 60's are so. Really haven't figured out what the temp is where it starts showing pressure. Bottom line, I've had to back down.

I live in south central Louisiana on the coast, its HOT and HUMID. I worked up the load in July of last year in the heat, shot it in many matches and never had a problem with blowing primers etc. but like i said in the previous post, pockets were getting loose in less than 5 firings. I didn't have ejector marks on the brass and i was using Lapua large primer brass with CCI BR2s. ES was 13 and SD was 7 for 10 shots over the chrono and that was with unturned or annealed brass.

Interesting. I live one state up from you. You certainly have the heat and humidity that we have and more.

I wonder if the fact that I'm using virgin brass has anything to do with it? I'm also using Lapua large primer brass. I'm using CCI200 primers because I couldn't find BR2 primers. My COAL is 2.925 ish with CBTO of 2.264 which has me .020 off the lands.

I noticed another oddity last week when working up a load for my new Kreiger. I had loaded up to 48 gr in small increments. I shot 45.2, 45.7, 46.2, 46.5, 46.8 then 47. The 47 had a clear ejector mark, so I put the remainder of the 47's along with the 47.5's and 48's away. I shot the rest of my test. When I got home I was looking at my brass again, and one of three 45.7 cases had an ejector mark that I hadn't noticed at the range. No marks on the 46.2, 46.5, or 46.8. Weird?

I just used 2 boxes of virgin Lapua 308 brass and ran into a similar issue. Noticed their were a few that took more force to seat the bullet, so I ran the remainder through my lee collet neck sizer and that went away.

Thanks. I wondered about that.

I'm almost through the virgin brass cycle. I will size the necks on the remaining and try again.

It gets fairly hot, but it seems the 2k is fairly temp stable. I do get slight ejector marks but no heavy bold lift. I am using tula primers they are a little bigger?
