No Turn Reamer/ 22BR question

If you were going to order a new reamer for a 22BR/ no neck turn, and using Lapua brass.........what neck diam would you specify?

kenbo: I've just measured several different lots of new, Lapua 6BR brass, and the neck walls are .0125' to .013'. I always take the 'thickest', so: .013' + .013' + bullet dia. .224' + .003', the clearance I'm comfortable with) all equals .253', for the chamber neck dia. You could load a round with the brass you plan on using and work from that actual loaded round neck dia. I use a tubing micrometer to measure neck wall thicknesses. Works for me.;)

kenbo, I believe a you'll need at least a .254 nk because when I sized down the necks they seem to thicken about .0005. Anyway mine is .254 and if it was any tighter I'd have to neck turn. Someone was just complaining that the latest batch of 6mmBR Lapua they purchased ran a little thicker somewhere around .0135 to .014 I suggest you talk with folks at PT&G they'll steer you right.

kenbo: I absolutly agree with what RJ said: the .254' chamber neck dia. is an excellent choice. .001' will not mean a thing, and will take care of the occassional case or lot that is slightly thicker. By all means run it by Dave Kiff/Pacific, the only reamers I buy, my gunsmith loves 'em). 22BR,like the 6BR) is another one of my favorites.
