Nm coyote hunt

So me and my nephew are interested in coming to nm for like 5 days calling for coyotes would be coming near Clayton nm. Be bringing my 5th wheel. What license would we need and i understand no night calling. I am older retired and get around all right. Any help would be appreciated I have tried to read the Regs but I find them very hard to understand any help would be appreciated thanks.

You'll need either a non resident hunting license or a non resident non-game license. Looks like $65 either way. Clayton is on the wrong side of the state for me so I can't really help you there.

So can I hunt on state land?

For hunting on state land, you need to have a license for a game animal that is currently open. This is a strange state, here the fish and game dept leases the hunting rights on state trust land from the state. Coyotes are not a game animal so if you are hunting them on state game land so technically you need to be hunting a GAME animal that that is open and you have a licenses for.

Also you need a fur takers licence to shoot a bobcat, just a small game license isn't enough. I hunt occasionally with a fellow from Texas, he has to pass on bobcats every year because the none resident furtakers license is so expensive.

The non-game license does not give you access to state land you need a small game license.
