Nikon problem or not

I bought a new Nikon Monarch 6 X 24 and have a Nikon Monarch 6.5 X 20 UCC on another gun. I don't think the new scope is as clear as the old one. I was out shooting last weekend and I could see .204 bullet holes with the old one slightly better than the new one at 200 yards. I would have thought the new scope would be clearer and with a little more magnification would see the holes better.

What are your thoughts? Anyone have the new scope and feel it is clear? Do you think I have a problem? Is there some way to test it better?
