Nikon Parallax

I have a 6.5 - 20 Monarch that is driving me crazy with parallax. Maybe I'm using it wrong. If I sight in at 100 yards with a clear focus at 100 yards than move out to 200 and change the objective focus only I am shooting 3"-4" to the right. The farther out I go the worse it gets. If I just get a real good focus at 100 and don't change anything at 200 I'm right on. Is it me or the scope?

Parallax adjustment should not affect POI, but change of power could possibly do so. Are you changing the scope power with each distance? I would check for loose mounts and rings. If they are tight, you might have to send it back to Nikon. I have the same scope, never had a problem with it.

I've checked and rechecked all hardware. I have even centered the reticle then sighted in at 300 yards with only the adjustment in the rings to make sure the scope was as true with the bore as possible. I first thought it was elevation drift but when I shot at 100 yards I could walk the bullets up a plumb line and back with perfect alignment. After that I shot at 200 and it was off. No change in power or elevation. Only parallax. Turned the parallax back down to 100 and shot at 200 with a fuzzy image and it was dead on. Sounds like Nikon is going to get this one back. I love the clarity but this has been a nightmare and a very discouraging varmint shoot.

Parallax isn't about 'clear focus'. Parallax is the apparent movement of objects relative to each other in different focal planes.

First, you need to ensure that the focus, the REAL focus, is set properly. This is adjusted at the eyepiece. The reticle should be sharp and clear at immediate glance. Point your scope skyward, look at the reticle, and it should be in sharp focus. If it's not, then adjust the focus at the eyepiece until it is.

You do NOT use the parallax adjustment for clarity of sight picture. You use the parallax adjustment to eliminate parallax. How? By adjusting the objective or side parallax knob until the target doesn't move relative to your reticle while you move your head slightly behind the ocular lens.

Parallax is eliminated when your reticle stays right on target, regardless of whether you move your eye slightly left, right, up, or down. It's not about whether the target image is clear.

If you can remove parallax but doing so results in a blurry image, then you need to use the ocular focus properly, or you have a problem with your scope and it should be returned for repair/replacement.
