Nikon P Tactical 223 Scope

Today I observed an ad for a Nikon P Tactical scope 223 in 3x9x40 magnification for right at $100. I'm checking to see if anyone has experience with the Nikon P Series line of scopes? I will be mounting it on my Rock River 223 X-1 series rifle. Currently I have an old Simmons 1.5x5 scope on it with a turkey reticle! It has crosshairs with a diamond reticle around the crosshairs. Surprisingly I can consistently shoot 1 inch (5) shot groups (sometimes smaller) off a Harris bipod with it. Years ago I had a Nikon 6.5x20 scope and it had great glass in it. Thoughts and opinions on this scope are appreciated. It seems like a big step up from my Simmons turkey reticle scope!

Thanks

I looked through one about 2 yrs ago on a AR a friend built, pretty good glass, and would be a good deal for $100. Not sure it would do much beyond 100, at least for my old crappy eyes it wouldn't.

I had a Nikon P223 on my AR for years I paid 199 for it and it is a great scope for the money it will definitely be a step up from your simmons you will be pleased

I have one. I have only used it on an 18" PSA .223 Wylde. It's OK for the $$. Glass is not bad. I've shot it in NRA Mid-Range Prone Tactical Rifle(AR) twice at 600 yards using IMI 77 Razor Core ammo. IIRC my best 20 shot string was a 195.

They really are pretty good scopes. However....It did seem like the adjustments were kinda wonkie. I made something like a 3 or 4 click windage adjustment when firing sighters and the POI didn't seem to move much(if at all). I added another 3 or 4 clicks and still not much at POI.....two shots later it was like 3 or 4 clicks too far. Seemed like the vibration from shooting may have finally got the adjustment to "Kick-In"...….Maybe I should have tapped the turret with a screwdriver....Or it could be I can't call wind shifts.:(

The one I have is BDC for 55 grain pills to 600. I don't know if I would ever shoot 55's to 600 though.

My son shoots a SWFA 10x Mil-Quad out to 600 and likes it but it cost more than double the Nikon.

I replaced my Nikon with an Primary Arms 4-14 R-grid 2B but now your at 3xNikon money.

All that said...I gonna pull the Nikon off the shelf and put on a 20" AR for my cousin(from out of town) to shoot with us next month at a 600 yard AR Match:)

Shoot 590-20x at 600 in Beaumont, TX this morning(10/26/2019)....

At $100 bucks....I don't think you would be disappointed.
