nightforce scopes

Im going to buy a nightforce scope, 12-42 power for benchrest and varmit hunting.
i have looked through the 8-32's and 12-42's benchrest models.
i have seen the 12-42 nxs with 1/8 moa clicks so was wondering if there is any benefit to go with the nxs over the BR model.?
does the nxs have better optics?( I dont really care about the side focus, been useing a front pa for 25years.)

does anyone have both models that could give me some insight if the nxs is worth the extra money?

The NXS is a bit more durable, but you will not see a difference in clarity for you use. They both employ excellent optics.

The extra glass in the NSX makes it a bit less clearer than the BR model.
Hard to tell, but if you've looked through enough of them you CAN see the difference.

Thanks preacher!, im kind of glad of that, thats just 400 bucks to put into a stock.lol
im building this one kind of backwards.. scope is usually the last thing i buy.
my new 6BR LV/HV bench rifle is allmost done, another month or two. but everything is paid for..allmost..

this scope is going to go on a 6 dasher , going to order barrel and reamer next month... then get the scope.. then have to decide what action, or if money gets tight may install on action i have..usually i allways have action first, then barrel, stock, (reamer, maybe use smith) and scope is allways last.

JS: " The NXS is a bit more durable". Just asking: what are you basing that statement on? Do you have some side-by-side comparison's you can quote?

Jim, I do own both NXS's and BR models, There is a slight diff in clarity, the BR is a tad bit clearer, advantage BR, prob. due to less glass, which brings me to my next point, there is about 1 inch diff. in eye releif, advantage NXS on this one. I'm not sure about durability, they are both very durable, I don't think I could tear either one up, and I'm not going to tear up $3000.00 worth of scopes to find out, I'm just a poor farm boy.

So... unless you are going to be entering in Tactical matches, run and gun stuff, where you would be needing the side focus and shooting prone and needing the extra eye releif, I would go with the BR model.
