Nightforce scope logo

Just worked on a club members rifle topped with a Nightforce Benchrest 8-32. This scope has a brown logo on the side. My same NF BR scope has the easily identifiable white nightforce logo. Was wondering if his might be a counterfit, then I looked on NF website and the big glossy looking photos have the white logo but the photos with scope in diagonoal (if you look real hard) seem to have the brown logo I saw today. The scope I saw today has seen a rough life and so then I was wondering if it was an older NF. Owner does not know. He bought the rifle with scope on a whim at a LGS. Any ideas?

It's actually gold that may have discolored. Yes, it designates an earlier era of scope. Otherwise it's still the same.
