Nightforce NXS vs. BR

I shoot 6mmBR both benchrest and across-the-course. I am lokking at buying either the Nightforce 8x32 BR or 8-32 NXS scopes. Other than the 1/8 vs. 1/4 MOA clicks, is there much of a different between the two in terms of function/operation, etc. assuming I have the same reticle in both?

NXS has side focus,AO) and 65moa elev. and 45moa wind.
BR has front Adjustable Objective and 50moa elev. and 50moa wind.

Both are really nice

Do you really need that much more MOA? or is the more MOA better so your reticle stays closer to the middle of the tube? Is it really worth the extra $400 for side focus?

The NXS looks really cool.. Hey, I know that is a lame reply but I'd spend a hundred or two for that aspect if it was going on a tactical gun.

If you are a score shooter the BR's 1/8 min. clicks lets you dial in the ten ring much better without having to hold off especially at longer yardages of 300 yards+. The BR also is a bit clearer due to not having the extra innards required for a side focus.
The NXS has much nicer target knobs without caps, and a bit more elevation.
I have both, but prefer the BR for score target work.

Sorry Typo,Do not No)...

Do both of these scopes have the same quality of glass?

Why such a drastic difference in price???

Cheers

I am planning on using the rifle for a combination of XTC-type shooting and bench/target shooting. Given that, which scope would be better suited? The knobs look larger and easier to adjust on the NXS models...

For what it's worth, some members of the USA F-Class team prefer the BR model over the NXS in the Nightforce line.

I was told by NF that the glass is the same. The NXS is designed for harsher enviroments. Call them up, they will answer any questions you have. My brother has an 8-32 x 56 NXS and it is very clear. I have shot many squeeks and two deer using it on two different rifles. Based on the NXS you will appreciate the little things that they do. Good luck.

For XTC, I would prefer the NXS because less turning of the 1/4moa knobs between yard lines and their easier access. BTW, using scopes in XTC is highly unusual, irons sights are the norm. Also the scope may be a bit heavy for offhand.

I do agree with dreever, I have both NXS's and BR's. For target work I definately think there is a advantage with the BR. The 1/8" adjustments are a must have and I definately believe you can get the BR scope in better focus. NateHaler is correct also, most of us on the f-class open team are using the BR. Dean-o
