nightforce nxs questions

I just picked up a new 12-42 nxs. I am suprised to see it says "made in japan" on the tube body. Is this normal? I thought our military would use a u.s. Made optics? It seem very clear and very rugged. I got the np1 rr reticle for long range pd and groundhogs. Any pointers on using this reticle? Also what height signature z rings to use on a rem 700 varmint bdl with the nightforce 20moa bases.

All of mine are made in Japan, along with everyone else's.. thats just the way it is..
You'll need to be at 22X to do any ranging...
A set of High Burris Signature rings should work well.....

I was told by Brian, (who is the tech guy at Nightforce) that the scope tube body is made in Japan, and the internal parts are from all over the world. Oh, and the lens' are from Japan. The scope is assembled here in the USA.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm totally happy with the scope so far. Got things adjusted today and had a chance to play the the scope. I really can't find anything I don't like about it. Every detail on it is well designed. I just wish they weren't so darn expensive. I think I'm gonna get a lower powered one for my deer gun. Very impressed so far!

fordwrench----I have 5.5x22x50 NP2DD's on my 2 deer hunting rifles, Night force has me spoiled these days and I'll never be the same again ;D

I think i'd be inclined to rangefind targets at that optic's highest power, which should be ~.548 Inch per hundred yds. beween lines @ 42x (by calculation) minus one line thickness. Could be alot of fun to see just how close u can come with that fine of a subtension under the right conditions.

I would bet most of Leupold's components are made outside the U.S. Most likely they are just assembled here.
