Nightforce Competition Scope Tracking

I understand that the original release Nightforce Competition 15-55 had an issue with tracking and holding POI, but I'm unsure from reading posts about this issue is if it has been resolved in the years since.

For those with a recent manufactured NF 15-55, have you had any issues with tracking and holding zero?

They had a problem with holding POI in 13, 14, 15 and 2016. They knew what the problem was and they had a fix for it.

I got one without zero stop, first run team stuff, and its solid as a rock.
Yup. One of the rifles that Tony sold me had a prototype NF 15-55 Comp. NF gave him 2 of them because he helped develop that scope with input that he suggested. He has never had a problem with that scope. I bought one in 2013 when they 1st came out. Mine was rock solid. Once I found out that NF knew they had a problem and they had a fix for it, I sent it back. I called and lied to the guy who answered the phone and told him that my scope wasn't holding POI. He gave me a return number and I sent it back. He called me about two weeks later and told me they were sending it back. I asked him if they found anything out with the scope. He said that they didn't but told me that since I lapped the rings that was probably the cause. He said it was probably moving in the rings. I said wait a minute. I have never lapped a set of Kelbly rings and never will so your theory doesn't apply to me. He didn't know what to say after that. I knew he was going to say that because 2 friends of mine, one from SC the other from NC both sent their scope back because theirs really wasn't holding POI. They said the same thing about the rings. But when both guy's received their scopes back, they were holding POI once again.

At least their scopes were fixed, my friend was just basically told he was an idiot. Nightforce sent the scope back, unrepaired, so he just got rid of it. Not cool.

I have 3 NF Comps all of which I purchased in the last 5 years. One from this forum's Marketplace, one from a vendor and one directly from NF's VIP program.

I have not had a moment's issue with any of them, and, as such, would not hesitate to spend my money on another. Also, I had an acquaintance that worked for NF who left some time back. That explains the VIP purchase. We discussed this "issue" and NF, at least at the time of my discussion, had a different perspective on this rumor that is floating around. I am not going to say what I was told as that may or may not be the company message, but it would certainly be hearsay. Something all of us should endeavor to avoid.

Personally, I hate that this topic surfaces every few years as it does open the door for doubt and there are few things more damaging to your performance or score than dealing with doubt in an already difficult environment.

A judge will not accept as fact "information" someone who worked at Company A told someone at Company B who subsequently told you. And, importantly, none of us would want a negative-reputation-impacting rumor spread by a party with whom we've never had any direct contact.

If you have a scope that you have any question about, send the damn thing in and get it serviced. If you have a good experience with that interaction, tell us. If you didn't and you've made a good faith effort with the company to resolve the issue, then tell us that.
