Nightforce Binoculars

I've been bothering NF about making a set of binoculars or spotting scope for a few years now. First time I asked was on the phone and someone at the company said they had been looking at the idea. Recently I bothered them again and received an email stating NF was doing R+D over various products.

I know there are various mil-dot binos out there, but I would love to measure up elk, deer, and other targets with a set of NF binos with a MOA reticle before swinging out a long smokepole in their general direction.

I would harass them to make a rangefinder ;D but I don't see that one in the cards

If you like the idea of having an NP-R1 (or whatever reticle you prefer) in a a set of binos or of other such products please send some support or suggestions to

Ranging Binos are just too hard to hold steady without support for effective ranging. Leupold makes a 10x50 with a MLR reticle that is good as anything NF could make.

A bit large/heavy. But they work excellent, better glass and still lighter than anything NF would make.
IMO, bracket ranging is just not worth a lot of effort, compromise, & expense.

If you need passive ranging from binocs(or a scope) ask NF to build a focus prism into their etched reticle plane, and provide a calibrated micrometer focus adjustment. Read range off the focus dial.
I don't understand why scopemakers haven't done this..

Thanks for the replies, but I do not want binos with a standardized reticle to use for ranging. My intent was to use the binoculars or spotting scope to measure tines and widths after I have ranged an animal using simple math. I got within .5-.75" on my mule deer this year judging height and width with my NP-R1 at 556. I don't like to the, "Well his ears are X wide you know..."

Yea Leica stuff is nice but it is not suited for this purpose.

I also prefer MOA over Mils and that is why I have not purchased the Vortex or Leupold, but probably will in time since no one is making a MOA type reticle for binos or spotting scopes that I know of.

Hey Romulus,
Just an FYI, US Optics makes their spotter with a MOA reticle. I have not used one but have used many of their rifle scopes and they are top-notch. Might be worth checking out:

I am an MOA guy too. Most of my shooting is NRA HP type stuff with iron sights, so MOA adjustments are firmly implanted in my brain.....

Good luck,
Erik
