Nightforce 12-42 56mm NXS on Rem 700 5R, mounts

Am the proud owner of a new Nightforce scope but am away from my rifle to check for ring height and mount options. While I'm down here in AZ/Bruno's land I'd like to get some rings but don't know the correct height.

Currently HS Precision stock, EGW 1 piece base, 30mm Burris XTR rings low. Original barrel.

This is a work-in-progress F/TR that is shooting incredible with the stock 24" barrel on reduced course. Am having fun upgrading as I go. This is clearly the most $ub$tantial upgrade so far.

Open for all suggestions and upgrades for mounts, I'm sure someone on the forum has this combination or knows of someone who does. If ring height increases will have to consider stock or cheek issues next.

Thanks in advance-

Keep the EGW base, and put a set of medium Burris 30 MM Signature rings on it and you should be where you need to be..

Go to Bruno's store while you're there. I'm sure they will set you up with the correct ring size.
I usually stop there when I'm in Phoenix. They have a good selection of rings/bases, and other
shooting supplies.

My NF manual says do not use turn in type mounts. I tried to turn a Sightron in them and bent the tube.

Instructions? Who needs 'em. I thought only the big-box stores used scopes as alingment tools. BTW, with the EGW mount, I believe Preacher is recommending the nice Burris Signature rings that fit mil-spec bases, not the turn-in style.

I'm a Badger Ordnance man when it comes to rings and bases. Wouldn't put a Nightforce in anything else. Not cheap but you already laid out big bucks for the scope and remember you get what you pay for.

Guy \question
is the tube on a NF scope that thin it can be bent...?
is that the only reason no to use turn-in mounts an rings ?
really just asking

No way are they to thin, the problem is usually that the dovetail rings are not properly set up and will cause a problem with dents.
If they are set up square to the scope with a ground, hardened 30MM bar there is no problem at all...

just buy some medium tps rings and be done with it.
i know my friend is running a 5r 700 with a 56mm nf and he started with medium tps and now i think he has low badger rings, they just clear the barrel.
