Night Vision on a shotgun

Folks,
I've got a 12 gauge-3'-1187 SP with a 28" barrel and choke tubes. On top
rides a Pulsar Digex C50 NV scope on a picatinny rail. Pulsar claims it will handle 12-gauge recoil. Also purchased a Carlson "Coyote Choke". The rig is heavy but that's all I'm allowed at night in NJ.
My question is whether anyone uses a night vision or thermal scope on a shotgun?
Any personal experience with the above type of setup will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

Haven’t tried nv or thermal mounted on a shotgun but I have an 870 turkey gun with a Burris ff3 red dot and a red kill light mounted under the barrel. I scan with a thermal monocular and only use the light for shooting. On a bright night you don’t even need the light if they’re in shotgun range.

That's actually a great idea for a combo.

I'm considering a similar setup with my Halo-lr thermal. I just dont have a picatinny mount.

If I was to build a night hunt shotgun, I 100% would set it up for TSS tungsten loads. They have longer range and tighter patterns than traditional shot. My interest was in shooting sounders of pigs with shotgun in brushy areas.

I think AP2023 on youtube has some thermal shotgun coyote hunting vids.

I went on a guided coyote hunt with Mike from master predator hunting last year. He had said that he did research and testing in this regard but generally uses a thermal spotter and red lights when hunting shotgun. I think it was just based on the fast action when they come in range. He also has some YouTube videos on shotgun patterning, mostly for bobcat I believe. He's near New Jersey, you should consider booking a hunt with him - it was well worth it for me just for the education.
