night vision goggles

Friend of a friend thinks he wants some night vision goggles maybe for hunting/watching nocturnal zombies, idk. anyone have any practical experiences they care to share?

That's something you would have to ask the law makers in those states. Some states prohibit possession of a night vision device while hunting.

anyone have any practical experiences they care to share?

As far as NVG's are concerned, they are *not* easy to use while shooting, and the cheap "consumer grade" models suck all the way around.

I was fortunate enough to get to use some top end models, and they were still a bear to shoot with.

A quality night vision scope is an entirely different story though.

I use a Sightmark digital night vision scope for hog hunting at night. It's good out to about 130 or so yards which is OK as I'm really comfortable shooting at something at night I can be sure of hitting. Those hogs are really surprised when a bullet comes out of nowhere and old porky falls over dead. With patience they will come back to feed and you can snag another.
