Nice Fathers Day

One of the best Fathers Day presents ever. Taking my son frog hunting for the first time.

When I was a kid living in the country, we shot them with 22 short hollow points. These are suburban frogs, so we gigged them.

We cleaned them together last night. He whacked them and did the opening cut. I skinned them and cut the legs off.

I frog hunted a lot when I was a kid. I have a very efficient process for cleaning them.

I have other ways that are slightly faster, but the way I do it is fast and is the best over all. I end up with "drum sticks". They are easy to cook and eat. Also doesn't gross out the first timers.

thats one day your son will never forget, my father brought me out hunting when i was very small, im doing the same with my son now, even last night we were out fox shooting and he said :dad imagine if we didnt hunt , we would probably be in the pub now drinking like all the rest of the clowns around here: i know now the importance of taking time with your children.they will remember those days all their lives.

He had a blast. I had a blast. He's hitting me up about when we can go again. We'll hit them tomorrow night. I've got to plan our route. It's sure much easier with Google Earth than back in the old days.

As soon as the rains slow down and the river clears up, I'm going to take him fly fishing for smallmouth. He's caught pan fish on a fly rod before, but never a smallmouth. I'd love to see his face fighting a 2 lb smallmouth on a #6 fly rod!
