I want a good .22 Magnum bolt action repeater, and I don't know what kind I want......

I have a Savage 93, and its very functional and pretty accurate, but I really like .22Magnum and want to treat myself to a fairly "nice-ish" rifle. CZ? Sako?

Parameters:

-Wood stock
-detachable magazine (preferably flush-ish fit for easy carrying
-Decent trigger
-Good quality
-under $1500.
-easy to scope

With some patient shopping on gunsamerica, gunbroker, gunsinternational and similar sites you should be able to find a previously owned Cooper or Anschutz in that price range. Or try in a WTB on the various forums and see what comes up.

In order of best to lesser:
Vudoo
Cooper
Annie
but these 3 are probably above your established limit
CZ

I happen to prefer the 17 HMR over the 22 Mag. The CZ (455 and 457) have the easy barrel change option. Triggers can be improved for very little. For the Annie, I much prefer the 54 match action over the 64 action.

That one would be worth taking out a loan for. Ahhh

Got the 457 cz today. Trigger is pretty nice for out of the box and instruction book say it's adjustable. Checkering on forend is nice. Down side, bolt is hard closing and stock finish could be better.

CZ are made for function. All the frills is what makes the annie cost more

Don't want to hijack the thread but just wanted to offer up what my experience was with the CZ 457 22wmr. 3 on left Hornady 30gr vmax and 3 on right Win 40gr hp at 50yds. Scope is a Burris fullfield E1 4.5-14x42. I'm pleased to say the least. Wood and blued steel reminds me of the guns of my youth.

My son below (the one from the which bullet for 243 thread) put 4 rds through it at 50yds

Steyr Zephyr II. These rifles are more accurate than a tricked out CZ 455 with Lila barrel, bedded and all. The wood / stock is first class. You don’t hear about them much but they sure do shoot. Use CZ magazines.
check them out before you buy anything.
