NF NX8? Reticle?

Putting together a Savage Model 10 with 6BR Shilen Match barrel. Thinking of putting a NF NX8 F1 on it

Just trying to build a 1000 yard rifle for fun and hobby.

Looking for suggestions on a reticle and any input on the NX8

Thanks

Mine is currently on my TRG42
MOAK it works for distance and used it hunting on a 300 win mag this past season.

It would be a good scope for that. As far as reticles you really don't have that much of a choice, figure out if you want to go MOA or MIL and there you go. You either go MOAR or in Mil you have a choice of
MIL-C
MIL-XT
Horus TREMAR3

The later 2 are Christmas tree style reticle, I would go with the MIL-C or MOAR reticle. Here are what they look like: https://www.nightforceoptics.com/riflescopes/nx8/nx8-4-32x50-f1/

I have several of these scopes. My only beef with them is that 8x in an F1 scope is too much magnification change. At low power, I struggle to see the cross hairs in bright sun focusing on a bed sheet! The cross hairs don't become usable IMO until you get to 1.5x the min setting, which is 12x in my 8-21s. My buddy bought two F2s and since the reticle has a 1/2 and max power scale on it, he can still do measured wind holds as well as I can. If you haven't looked through both the F1 and F2, I would suggest you do that before buying.

I have a 2FP model also, I was going to recommend it but since the op stated F1 I figured he knew what he wanted. I agree with FeMan the 2FP might work better especially if the OP is just target shooting. I don't have that much trouble with my F1 but I have great eyes also and use it mostly for hunting, with a lot of that being LRH, so I don't run the lower power much and when I do I just use the reticle like a duplex and don't have a need to see the graduation marks or numbers. The newer 2FP MOAR reticle with the dual value is nice and very user friendly.

i agree with the above statements and will add that my nx8 f1 on 32 magnification at 1000 yds with the moar reticle has such thick lines that i have a hard time shooting at that range and magnification compared to the same setup but with an f2 scope. in fact i wish they would put the moar-T reticle in the nx8 f2 like my nxs 32 has.
