I'm in the process of having a 6.5CM build completed and was set on getting a NF ATACR 7-35 for the optic. The intended use will be to get more into long range shooting, target and possibly some related matches if/when my skill set grows. I may do the odd hunt with the rifle, but it is DEFINTIELY not a dedicated hunting rifle due to the final build weight with scope being in the 18 pound range.
I recently talked to someone who suggested I consider the 5-25 as opposed to 7-35. Their reasoning was that based on their experience with the 7-35 the parallax adjustment was finicky. This individual is very knowledgeable and respected in the area and shoots PRS matches, so I have no reason to doubt them, but their comment surprised me as the 7-35 seems to be very well regarded (as does the 5-25) and I had not came across this comment in researching the scope.
Since hearing this comment I have done more research specifically related to parallax issues/concerns and haven't been able to find any information supporting this. Does anyone have experience with these two models and experienced the parallax to be more finicky on the 7-35 then say the 5-25?
I've also heard the "glass is better on the 7-35 than the 5-25". It is my understanding the glass is the same in both these models, so my conclusion to this is that it "appears" better because when you are at 20 or 25 power on the 7-35 you are not at or near the top end of the magnification range on the 7-35 like you are on the 5-25.
Thoughts/comments on the parallax and glass?
