The Montana NW 1000 Yard Benchrest Club voted yesterday to join the IBS for the 2015 season! Get ready for some records to fall! ;D If you want to shoot small this is the range to do it at.

I'm excited!! lots of possibilities, hopefully this will draw some new faces to the club over the length of our season and seasons to come. Thanks to those fellows who made the time to make this change possible. Good shooting to all and can't wait for 2015 season to commence.

Thats going to be cheating! Going from ten shots in L.G. too five! Well you guys were always tough to beat, 5 shots in an inch and a quarter shouldn't be hard for you to do on that range. Say goodbye to your records JIM.

Hard to say about the records. I know someone will beat that 1.3xx sooner or later. I think the aggs are beatable as well. I will not be competing for a season or two. I plan to take on some more work around the club to make the transition easier for everybody. I hope all of our members will study up on the rules and course of fire to help everything run smoothly right off the bat. We hope to draw some good shooters that really want to go after the records as when this range is good, it doesnt get any better.

I know most can read, some don't act like it. Score ties go X count first, if X's are tied then group settles tie breaker. For records they don't list X count for some reason. It goes back to the reading thing. We had a 100-5X 3.495 shot 1 year that was a record. I wonder if a lesser x count but smaller group beat the score record.

IBS 600 yard br is different it goes to group. X's don't mean anything at 600 hopefully we can unify both 600 and 1000 soon.

RULES! And everyone like to interpret the RULES DIFFERENTLY. Williamsport says Group first, then Score but nothing on X count. But I have always said if you are in the Middle you hit what you were aiming at. But our shoot off's are for Group and Score. But I am a score shooter, Kind of like hunting,

I would like the shot to be in the Heart not the A$$

I guess you just retire your records, then just start fresh. We did that as far as the 16.5 class goes. There still there! Kind of like with sports some records get retired. That was then this is now.

Hey Tom,

How many targets per gun per day?? I am not up on IBS rules, but thought they used a four target agg. format.

Anyway hope it works out.

Thanks,
Gary C.

IBS-1000 is not an aggregate
1 Relay target (per class) per Match
Then if you win your Relay to group or score, you advance to a 1-Target Shoot-Off (per class)
5-Shots for LT-Gun
10-Shots for HV-Gun

IBS-600 is a 4-target aggregate
5-Shots for both LT & HV-Gun

IBS for normal 1000 yard matches, aka tournaments, allows a one two or three target agg per relay with the relay winner advancing to the shootoff.
There is always a shootoff except at the Nationals where it is agg. only.

Always forget to add that don't I .... lol
And except for CRC, all other ranges/clubs have all fallowed suite with the 1-Target Relay and 10-Match seasons, as is DCR's intentions as well I believe.

I wish someone would explain this winning relays, is better than an AGG. If you shoot 10 Matches and win all 10 relays but your AGG. Is like 13 inches with a 88 score are you happy that you won all those relays???? 8) Help me understand. ;)

Joe Salt

Joe, if it were for an agg and you agged 13" you would not win a match but when you shoot relays eventually you will win a relay with a 13"group, maybe the wind was really blowing or the mirage was really bad but eventually you will win with a 13" group. Winning a relay gets you shooter of the year points, so does winning a shoot off. Would you rather say you won a relay with a 13" group or that you lost a match because you agged 13"

If you win the relay you go to the shoot off, if you win that you win the match. The way we shoot now, if you get a calm relay you have all the advantage over the other relays because there is no shoot off. Plus the IBS will recognize our records.

Well then its no different than PA. Club! win your relay for group or score, you get in the shoot off thats where the money is. But I can come in 3rd place in the shoot off and get my relay money back plus like $40 bucks depending on how many shooter we have. First place pays for my gas and a patch and a relay pin, and if I'm all in the blue I get a pin for that also.

Well, cool then. You guys should join the IBS too. Then all our records will really be "world" records rather than club records.
