New York Gun law question?

Raythemanroe

Bullet Whisperer
Can I sell a gun out of state (Lets say on here) without taking it to a FFL holder? Would it be okay to sell online if shipped to a FFL? New York's new gun laws say any transfer to immediate family most be done through a FFL like a new gun transaction.

Immediate family no for normal firearms, assault(sporter) yes.As far as shipping out of state, call your local gunshop,I am unclear whether its legal or not.

Just recently did it. Sold a rifle on gunbroker and sent it to a FFL holder in Nevada. Not 100% but I think those proposed laws are not yet in effect.

Out of State, generally requires at least ONE FFL involved. Usually at the receiving end of the transaction. However in some States it is a two FFL party requirement. You would deliver to a local FFL and they would ship to the receiving FFL for the transfer. Family gifts can be very strange depending on where you're standing when it all happens. Check the local gun shops as they are very familiar with the local laws.

I think th only change for the long gun rule amy be the assult weapon. you can send a non "assault weapon" direct to an ffl out of state but you need to go fll to ffl if sending an AW or handgun. As with all things legal dont simply listen to what you hear online as a disclaimer but i have done it this way.
