New Video Alert! Ruger American Rifle Gen II Predator .308 | Review & First Impressions

Hey everyone,

Just dropped a new video over on my YouTube channel The Hobby Gunsmith! This one’s all about the Ruger American Rifle Gen II Predator in .308 — I give my honest first impressions, go over the specs, and break down the build quality from a gunsmith’s perspective.

If you're thinking about picking one up or just curious about the rifle, I’d really appreciate it if you checked it out and let me know what you think!

Thanks for the support — range footage and some mods coming soon!

I appreciate the fact that your thumbnail does not have a picture of you making the "oh no/what" face. Well done sir.

lmao yea i know the one. Thanks.

Okay good I'm glad you got the joke. My wife and I watch a lot of YouTube videos instead of watching any kind of television. So even the best of the people that we follow have a tendency to make really stupid thumbnails I have no idea why. I've even asked them in the comments sections. I guess they just can't help themselves they need to copy other people.

YouTube is an interesting place. There are obviously channels that are partnered with YouTube. They are promoted relentlessly and get more views than they should. Their talent for entertainment is questionable often times. Yet they get millions of views and have clothing lines in the department stores. And I know people trying to do an honest influence work on YouTube and they are beyond at a disadvantage.

Yeah, honestly, that’s one of the toughest parts about being a creator on YouTube. You put a lot of effort into producing quality content, but whether your video gets pushed or not often comes down to how well you can work with the algorithm. So you end up tweaking titles, descriptions, tags—trying to find that magic combination that helps it get seen.

And being a firearms channel makes it even more challenging. You’re constantly walking on eggshells with YouTube’s policies, just trying to stay within the rules without having your content flagged or suppressed. It can definitely get frustrating at times.

But at the end of the day, if my videos help someone—whether it’s learning something new, solving a problem, or just enjoying the content—that’s a win in my book.

Good for you!! Well done.

Art, for the sake of art, beats consumer based product fake channels every time.

Not a ton of centerfire rifle content on there that I’ve seen. Lots of good handgun, rimfire, reloading. I guess there’s Cortina, fclass john, winning in the wind. About it.

Yeah good luck I’ll giver a look
