New Tooter Meredith build

I got my first custom build last year. A Meredith 280 AI. It is a beautiful work of art that shoots just as well. Now on to my next one.... I have gotten the Stiller lefty action already. My denima is caliber. I was really hung up on the 243. All around awesome caliber. But now I am thinking weigh my options. So, I am thinking creedmore in 6 or 6.5. Or 6.5x47. Heck even .260. What do u guys think? Mostly target/maybe some tactical matches. I am looking at a #4 Brux barrel with a Manners stock. Wanting a little lighter barrel. Let's hear pros and cons. Thanks.

Is this going to primarily tactical matches? Is this going to be a dual purpose rifle for hunting and tactical? Is F-Class (Open) going to be in the equation? What range(s) will the rifle be used at?

Oh sorry, ranges 1000 or less. Honestly mostly my range is 300. I am able to shoot at some local ranges of 600-1000. I want my options open. I would like this to be my last rifle. Haha.

Well if you are going to go out to "about" 1000 yards and you need the OPTION of purchasing factory ammo (good stuff by the way) get a 6.5 Creedmoor. If you are not concerned about factory fodder, get a 6.5 x 47 Lapua. It will do EVERYTHING a 6.5 Creedmoor or "regular" (as in not Acklyized) .260 will do with the benefit of small primer pockets (read that nearly indestructible>>within reason).. If you are going to be shooting "mostly at or near" 1000 yards, I would consider a 7mm of sorts, like a .284 or it's variants. They WILL out perform a smaller caliber IF you are going to be shooting at 1000 yards. If you are going to hit 1000 "on occasion" and 600 or less as the norm, the 6.5 x 47 Lapua would be extremely hard to top..

I really want simple. That is why the 243 was first choice. I am a reloader. 90% of the shooting will b less than 600. I know the Lapua is accurate. People are really pushing the creed around my area. Opinions?

There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING the "Creed" can offer over the '47 except factory ammo. If you reload and the vast majority of your shooting is 600 or less, you can NOT go wrong with the 6.5 x 47.

Relatedly, if losing $1.20 a piece brass makes you cry, go with the Creedmoor.

I also have a 280 ai from Tooter..wanting to get started loading 180 Hybrid Bergers with Retumbo...you ever shoot this combo in yours?
Thank you

Never shot 180s in mine. I got some 168s that I am going to try as soon as the weather breaks. I believe some of the other guys that Tooter sold rifles to are shooting tha180s and Retumbo.

I don't own a 6.5 x 47 but I would build one in a heart beat if I had the funds. I was with a friend when he was finalizing his load with 140 hybrids and wow 2860 fps 5 fps ES I would not believe it if I wasn't there.

Exactly a year ago I bought a 6.5x47 from Tooter with Stiller, Bartlein, Manners components. So far I have shot it out to 1100 yards twice with 0.5 moa results with ease, once getting the proper wind call. Sending 123 Scenars at 3050fps with no pressure signs. Tooter has a good reamer, try it and you will be pleased.
