New tooling/aggressive fluting

I have some new tooling that will allow me to offer a more aggressive style of fluting with a fantastic finish. A hard combination to come up with in the past. Here's the latest, and it's a beauty. At least to me. Always nice to have more options to offer to my friends .

That's tight..
Both in twist and appearance!!

Paul how much weight will that shave of a 26" barrel?

Thanks guys.
You wouldn't think, in today's world, with all the great tooling offered that this would be that hard to do. But believe me "grasshopper " it is! Lol! This particular tool checks all the boxes for a deep tight flute with an amazing finish. It is nice to hear a milling machine humming along like a sewing machine. The difference between a VW and a Ferrari. Sound wise.

Brett,
Hard to say weight wise. On this, very heavy barrel, I was able to shave off one pound. Flutes were over .120 deep! Very deep in my world! Depending on your contour I would venture 8 to 12 oz. Just depends on what I have to work with, material wise. Thanks bud.

Call me weird, but I always have wanted a barrel 'fluted' to look like rebar. But only if it would shoot good and I could show off my rebar barrel that shoots 5 bullets in a hole.

8-12 oz is a huge weight savings.

Really nice!

I'm interested to hear about this new tooling!
Some sort of new ball end mill?

I could possibly do something like that on the lathe, with a radiused single point threader.
But multiple passes & man that thing would have to be moving in the Z axis!!
