New to the 6mm BR and wondering about loads

I have been shooting the 70gr Serria bullets with 31.5gr of H4895 and Benchmark and could not tell any difference in the loads until today. I set my Jewel trigger to 8oz and went to the range. The H4895 shot great but the Benchmark was way better. Good luck with your Ruger #1, I have 4 of them and they can a pain to get the to shoot, but they will.

7tcu:

It was windy as all get out here today so i chose not to shoot, not a fair sample.

I guess I have been lucky on several of my #1's as they shot quite well with one shot, cold barrel which I think is important.

I do wish I could find a Jewel trigger. Mr. Penrod, however can work "magic" with stock triggers as he did building my re-barrel to 17 Fire Ball and a fix up on a stock factory trigger on my 6.5 Creedmoor.

I will give that load a try. Thanks

They don't make a Jewell trigger for a #1, they make Kipplinger, and maybe a Moyer , the trigger I have in my #1's is a Canjar but they closed and are no longer available. Good Luck

That would be a good one. Me I am looking around for a #1 in 218 Bee, but so far I do not like the price.

Managed to put som rounds down the barrel just goofing around. The 90 gr. Lapua stuff does not work at all. It hits a 50 yard target as a horizontal key hole.....

I have some 70 gr range stuff on its way. I'll shoot that and move along with your suggested loads from there.

We shall see what we see.......

Well, being a sucker for a good deal, Midway had a sale on Nosler Varmageddon bullets and I ordered some in 70gr and tried them today with the same lold of 31.5 gr of Benchmark and these shot better than the Serria 70 gr. These shot extremely well, you never know. Good luck

Well, with the 75 and 77 gr ammo this gun shoots really well for now. Some load tinkering should bring it in even closer.

Both rounds printed at about 3/4" at 100 (best was 1/2") and at 200 opened just a bit, and thats with a terrible trigger .... about 4 lbs or so and not the right scope. I can fix all that and perhaps that will do the trick. As of now, for coyotes its good to go at our hunting ranges.

I will keep you all informed as to my progress.

Thanks everyone for your comments.
