New to reloading in MT

Hey all, I am new to this forum, and reloading. I have always used factory ammo for hunting, and have recently become more interested in the challenge of dialing in my groups and longer range accuracy. I read through most of the Lyman Reloading Handbook, which was pretty good. I also have spent quite a few hours on this forum and youtube. I have pretty much all the equipment I need, but obviously there aren't any primers or powder available anywhere (except for crazy prices on auction sites).

Is there anyone in the Somers/Kalispell area that would sell me a couple of primers and a bit of powder? Looking to load 270 Win and 25-06. Even 100 cartridges worth would get me started!

Thanks, and happy to be part of the forum,

Scott

Welcome to the forum from Tennessee

Welcome - the Lyman Manual is an excellent place to start.

Not close enough to help you with the component issue. Thing pretty tight here also in eastern PA.

The 270 and 25 06 are two the easiest cartridges to load so once components become available you shouldn't have any trouble developing an effective hunting load. You don't have to reinvent the "wheel" so to speak with load selection for these cartridges.

The powder choice is simple, IMR 4350 or 4831 works universally well with these two cartridges. These powders have a long history of success with these cartridges.

If you can obtain them, the Sierra 130 grain Spitzer BT works terrific with the 270. The Sierra 117 grain Game King is a good choice for the 25 06. Both are excellent long range hunting bullets.

Welcome from Western Pa. You might try looking for some outlying gunshops in & around the areas you mentioned. Even if you have to drive awhile. Some of the small gunshops in out of the way areas are the ones where people are finding powder/primers. Think that's your best bet. imho
You've joined the best shooting forum on the web.;)

Welcome to the Forum! These are tough times to find components. I’d gladly help you out but I’m in Texas and I can’t do Hazmat. I just bet some member close to you will help! They’re good guys here. I just came in with a loaded truck. I may have brought some 7mm bullets. I’ll let you know. I brought my 7x57 stuff.
