I recently traded a CVA Cascade 6.5 PRC that was a lemon in to a brand new Ruger Gen 20" barrel model. I was not a fan of the Gen 1s, never could get one to feed 100% of the time. I already had a Tikka T3 7/08 and I had loads worked up that shot great in it, 139 Hornady btsp with 42 gr of BLC2 behind it. I cleaned the barrel of grease and oil, and did a quick trigger job that got it down to #2 consistently, ala YouTube. It took 6 shots to zero at 100 yds and foul the clean bore. First 3 shot groups looked great, well under 1/2". I gave it 5 minutes, then shot another 3 shot groups, that looked identical to the first. I pulled the targets and measured the groups, they went .350 and .340, that is the first 12 shots out of a new barrel. The scope was a Vortex Viper 6x20x44. The groups are nearly identical to my Tikka T3 in the same caliber. I have 4 of these new Gen 2's in smaller calibers and all of them are sub 1/2 moa with loads that I had worked up for other rifles. I have to say, whatever Ruger did when they redid the American line of rifles they did it right. These guns are strictly knock around, truck and side by side hunting rifles, that Is what I use them for. Any one else have similar experience with these rifles?
