New to me henry x

Just wanted to show off my new to me henry big boy model x .357. Ive wanted a lever action .357 for quite a number of years now. The ideal rifle would have been a stainless, dark wood with large loop and threaded barrel. That combo doesnt exist in a factory offering and i didnt want to spend what it would cost to have one built. The model x came out and peaked my intrest. However many may know rhese things are tuff to find. This one popped up on a local forum and a short 1.5 hour ride and i now have it in my posession. Put a few rounds through it in the back yard this evening and its a pretty slick shooter. Undecided on if or what optics i will put on it. I do see a silencerco hybrid 46 in my future though.

I've got the exact same model Henry. A few tips/suggestions for you: A Ranger Point Precision trigger sear will improve the trigger (I kept the factory trigger spring as the included, lighter RPP spring softened up the trigger reset too much for my tastes). While you're digging into that, shim up the hammer, trigger, and lever pivot points with shims from triggershims.com.
If you'll be reloading for your Henry, I'd suggest the Hornady 158 XTP-FP for precision. Depending on powder used, I've been getting 1650 fps (w/Alliant 2400) to 1750 fps (w/H110). I've found that the XTP-FP (Flat Point) cycles more smoothly than the regular hollow point XTP. On a good day, with an SWFA 10X scope mounted, it will shoot 2 MOA groups at 100yds. And, of course, you can wayyy download some .38 Spl subsonics, if you want.
I've mounted a Dead Air Ghost-45 suppressor on my Henry. Works great and with subsonic loads, it's very quiet.
For plinking, I use an Aimpoint red dot, as seen in the pic. No complaints.
Good luck and enjoy!

Mike
