Are there any f-class matches in Texas coming up soon?

Hey Travis Welcome aboard. Texas is kinda big what part of the state are you looking for matches in? Most of the North Texas guys and gals come up to Oklahoma City Gun Club and occasionally venture further up into gods country to Tulsa.haha There are some good Longrange matches down at Bayou Rifles in Houston. They have a club championship match coming up September 5th and a Longrange State Championship October 8th-10th. Let's us know what area your in and someone can probably help

There is also a small 500 yard F-Class match in New Braunfels every month. I attend that one sometimes because that's where I got started, nice people and a good place to start shooting, but I drive to Bayou Rifle Club in Houston every chance I have.

Ok, just looked at your profile and looks like you are in Rising Star, TX. Looks like a 5 1/2 hr. drive to Bayou Rifle Club. There are some guys that attend pretty regularly from Forth Worth.

The Texas Long Range Championship is comming up in October 8-10, on the 8th is a two man team match, on the 9th and 10th is the individual championship. That may be worth the drive.

Also, on the weekend of October 2nd and 3rd there will be two days of shooting as well, Saturday is the Palma Practice, which you can shoot F-Class as well, and the next day is the Long Range Match. Registration on Saturday starts at 11:30 AM. So you can leave at around 5:00 AM and make it on time.

New Braunfels is not too far. I live 60 miles SE of Abilene,Tx. I'm just wanting to get my feet wet.

I don't think it's worth the drive to go to New Braunfels. It's only a 10 shot match. You will be better off just driving to Bayou rifle club where they have 60 shot matches. You will learn alot more at Bayou.

Good ole' Abilene.......we did our shooting at the old German POW Camp, I think it was Camp Barkley? It was south on the Winters Freeway (277) if I remember right, one part was set up as a drag strip and the other a rifle range. I know the range went out to 1K at least if not further.

Do they still shoot there?

rumor has it they will be building a f class 1000yd range, pits etc

They already have a 1k range for steel

Shot my first F-Class match in OKC August 21st. Nice range, great people and a good time was had by all. Dean Morris puts on a very well ran match. I let it be known this was my first match and I was squaded with a couple good guys and great shooters that showed me the ropes. Going to Zia Gun club in Albq. this Sunday to shoot, hope it's as well ran as OKC was.
