New to 6BR

I just picked up a Savage custom with a criterion barrel 28", 1:8 twist.

i have been shooting my 6mm Creedmoor for about 4 years now and it is a tack driver at 600 and 1000.

Been wanting to build a 6BR for about 3 years but never got around to it.

Yesterday I bought a used Savage custom receiver (single shot, 3 receiver screws).

Now to reload some Lapua once fired brass Since I have a good supply of Hornady ELD match 105 and 108Gr I am looking for load data.

What powers are working for the 6BR?

I have some CFE223, Varget, and others for .223 ammo.

Also, do I need to resize the brass or just neck size?

I so what dies are avaiable?

Any friendly info will be appreciated.

Thanks in advise.

Larry

If 30g of Varget or 28.5 of N140 doesn't work...there's something arwy. Start with Sierra 107's. 5 thou off the lands. Iassume that there's a load for CFE, but I have not tried it, as I avoid double base powders where possible.
Double base = Faster throat erosion….
Some of those powders shoot well… BUT, there is always a price to pay… Aside from the actual cost of the powder.
Definitely Varget {AR2208} and the 107’s is a good base starting point.

Many 6BR shooters say if it won't shoot 105 gr. class with 30 gr. of Varget there is something wrong. Back when I was shooting the 6BR I found it to work very good.

Berger 1
Thanks. Is there a diference between 6mm Creed and 6mmBR when it comes to accuracy.

I am getting 5" groups at 1000 yds with the 108 ELD match.

Any suggestions on bullets?
Berger 109's are good
Lapua 105 Scenar - L are great and very consistent bullets
I prefer 115 Dtacs though for the highest BC at 1000
FWIW - I've gotten pretty consistent 1/3 or less MOA with Dtacs at 600
Shown pictured is running a 2 shot waterline test at 600 bumping up my load
against 1 inch square with Dtacs
Hbn Coated
According to the guys who dominate 6mm
103 Vapor Trails are very hard to beat for the best consistency
I haven not tried them yet but will eventually

Don't know your twist but Imagine it is a 1:8 twist which should be fine for all these
For practice bullets the 6mm 112 Matchburner are surprisingly good
I found them better than Hornady's

Good info so far. Keep it coming.

I just ordered dies for the 6BR and a 20 MOA rail.

Cant wait to get some loads for ladder testing.

One other question, the seller gave me 150 once fired brass. It's a mixed batch of Alpha and Peterson.

Should I separate the cases and do data on both cases or are they close enough volume wise to not bother.

I would definitely separate the two.
