New Stock for my 6 BR prone rifle!

My new Choate stock xame from Midway and the bottom BDL metal also arrived from Bownells. Now all I need is another 1 1/2 months or so of recovery to go and shoot the damn thing. I will be selling the 40 X stock it used to sit in. The new stock looks pretty good and the underside rail is nice, too. The local gunsmith is going to drill and tap the receiver for a side mount RPA. Maybe he will skin bed the v-block, too. It already has a PTG bolt. A pretty nice rifle.

Sounds like your on your way John. Do you have a load worked up for it yet? Is it a fast twist barrel?

Now you have to feed this new toy and that is where the real money comes in......

This has an 8 twist barrel made by John Benjamin in Portland. It is quite accurate and I can hardly wait to get it set up and shoot it. I have at least 6 to 8 weeks to heal my knee from it's surgery. I have another prone rifle in 6 mm RAT that sits in a Bobby Hart stock & a Krieger 8 twist that also shoots quite well. I have tried the standard load that you see here but I like H4895 the best. 105 Bergers fly pretty straight, but the 6br & the RAT seem to like anything. ( I am not a bench rest guy)

Are you shooting F class or are you going to try and use the Choate rifle stock for NRA prone and a sling with iron sights? Guessing your 6BR is going to be NRA prone from the use of RPA sights mentioned in your first post.
Bumb knee never stopped me from load testing and I bet the itch will be overwelming for You as well.

I will go back to prone shooting with the sling & RPA Trakker sights. Nothing personal against F class but standard prone shooting with a sling has always been my way.
