new shooter

It's been a while since i have shot service rifle. What is the easiest way to get back into shooting? what gear will i need for starting bench rest? and is a AR-10 chambered in 6.5 creedmoor going to hold up in BR600 and 1000?

I agree with lmmike,
go to the local matches and see what the people there are using. Use what you have but by the end of the day you will have a much better idea of the direction that will best suit you.

I am going to lean the other way. You can shoot your AR-10,but you are asking if it will 'hold up". If you mean will you be compeditive....NO YOU WON"T.

If you want an "easy in", find a used remmy or savage LR bench gun. You can find some pretty darn good bargins on used bench guns. Try and pick a chambering that has a great track record, is cheap to load for, and has decent bbl life.
If you are gong to shoot mainly 600, then you really can't beat a basic 6BR. If 1000 will be in the mix, then 6 dasher/brx is the ticket. You will have TONS of people to give you pointers on a good load, they both have a good track record, they are easy on tubes, and are "bench friendly" as far as recoil.

This may not be what you WANT to hear, but it is what it is.

Good luck,
Tod
