Just as a little relief from the death and destruction of Coronavirus, I offer my thoughts as a new long range shooter. This is absolutely the most fun I've ever had with any competitive sport. I pretty much suck at shotgun sports, and I'm not much better at pistol. After shooting four 600 yard F class and a few 600 yard benchrest matches, I'm totally hooked. I find it interesting that, without exception, every person I have met at these matches had offered helpful advice and made me feel welcome to their group. I hope to be able to do the same as my skills grow. This particular sport suits my somewhat OC personality, as I rather enjoy the hours of repetitive tasks involved in loading. After matches, I can brag to my non-shooting friends about how I can hit the target at 600 yards (as long as I don't show them the actual scores and targets of the shooters I was competing with, LOL!). As my forum name implies, I'm about to be transplanted from Memphis to western Colorado, so I will miss my new friends in Memphis and north Mississippi, but I look forward to shooting with the guys out in Whitewater. Thanks to Tim Claunch for helping me build a modified 6mm Dasher, AKA the 6mm TAC which shoots better than half MOA groups. So, if you're on the fence about taking up this sport, I encourage you to join the fun.
