Got a letter today from:
Ticketmaster
C/O Cyberscout
PO Box1286
Dearborn, MI.48120-9998

it purports to be a Notice of Data Breach. It says "an unauthorized third party obtained information from a cloud database hosted by a third-party data services provider." Says "personal information obtained may have included your name, basic contact information, and payment card information such as encrypted credit or debit card numbers and expiration dates."

It carries four pages of followup information, and suggests (for your own protection of course) that you contact them and provide them with your personal information, including SSAN and credit card information at www.mytrueidentity.com
This is the information any scammer would want.

I called my Attorney General immediately; they have been investigating this scam. They tell me this group will drain your financial resources faster than the Blood Bank will get a pint of blood from you.

Take Care,

ISS

Received a letter from ticketmaster. Below is the info I found about the incident and monitoring company.

I was 300 miles from home getting gas and got a standard text from Wells Fargo if this was me and I texed back "Y" for yes so they wouldn't shut my card off then I got the return text to call as there was fraudulent charges. I called the number and the recording was identical to Wells Fargo "I recognize the number, please enter the last 4 digits of your social security number" then it asked for my debit card code... I would NEVER enter any passwords and I was not using my debit card, I was using my credit card.
So the first text was legit and some in the Wells Fargo fraud department is sending out my number to their scammer friend who sends the follow up scam text.
They are getting really bad. Yes I bought a lot of powder from Midsouth.wellss.jpg

Yeah, the problem here is that Ticketmaster was in fact breached - Well, a service they use, Snowflake, was breached. The information you received is legitimate. Good on you for being cautious but you aren't being scammed.

I received the letter last week. Having never used a credit card or anything I would consider personal info to buy a ticket in the last 20 years I was not concerned with the "data breach" and threw the letter away.

I got the letter today, my wife several days ago. Both were trashed. We haven't done biz with Ticketmaster in many a year and if CC info was still in their data base it is a long out of service card.

Rather scam or not, how could it help the situation by giving out Your most personal of information in that way? I would NEVER do it. :(
