New Remington 700 barreled action need headspace set!

Thanks in advance, I just purchased a new stainless Remington 700 barreled action no bolt or trigger in 204 Ruger. I have tried 3 of my bolts out of my 223’s and they will not close on new resized brass. So my plan is to buy a new bolt from PTG and send my barreled action and new bolt and let someone qualified set the headspace so can anyone point me in the right direction.
Thanks Bradley

New bolt is unnecessary, won't solve the short headspace problem. Is the handle at least partially falling?
Easily fixed with a t-handle and reamer to deepen the chamber as needed.

Just re-read and noticed this (was thinking go gauge). New brass, OR resized brass? Can't be both...
Virgin brass is almost always undersized, so if it's virgin brass definitely an issue.

If it's resized brass from another rifle, you might not be bumping the shoulder enough.

I would first try a 'go gauge' in the chamber.if it doesn't close remove the barrel and measure the bolt dimensions when in the action, including the recoil lug.check the relevant clearances on the counter bore.you don't want the bolt nose touching anything.if clearance is good screw the barrel and recoil lug onto the action with the 'go gauge' in the chamber with the bolt closed.measure the gap with feeler gauges.ream chamber to suit.

Barreled action did not come from PTG came from a gunshop in Florida leftovers from the Remington bankruptcy inventory liquidation. Thanks for all the info I certainly appreciate it but this is over my head I don’t have the tools to do it as I’m looking for someone to send bolt and barreled action to that can do it for me!

i got a couple of those when ptg sold them. they were short chambered as i imagine the one you have is to. dont you have a gunsmith localy you could take it to? should be an easy job for someone who works on rifles.
