New reamer wont cut

Has anyone ever received a new reamer that wont cut.I received a new 7-08 reamer to deepen an already chambered barrel the reamer is a bushing reamer and the bushing is the correct size.It cuts the throte and shoulder and then stops. It will push the barrel back through the headstock if you push hard enough

Call the maker and explain the problem is what I would do....
Sure sounds weird to me though, that it will cut the shoulder and then stop...
Any chance of seeing a close up photo ??

Not trying to be smart but you aren't running in the wrong rotation are you.

What kind of barrel , stainless, 4140 etc? I ran into a similar problem , but that was a machine gun barrel that had some ( stellite ?) liner .

Make sure the pilot is not too big. Remove it from the reamer and see if you can push it thru the bore (from either end) with something that will not damage the rifling, maybe a 1/4" wood dowel rod. It should push through without any effort -- don't force it. All 7mm barrels are not the same diameter, nor are the pilots that come on reamers. Barrels that have been shot a lot also have somewhat hardened throats, but it really sounds like the pilot is too large.

actually since you have a chamber and are only make a small mod to it...
SKIP THE BUSHING

If going a couple K, I'd run it in by hand. Something doesn't sound right. Same reamer cut the chamber previously? Maybe its cutting elsewhere before hitting the shoulder?

What is the problem that you need to lengthen the chamber?

I took the bushing off still did not cut I had a stub and ran the reamer in it ,it cut the throt and shoudler and stoped when it got to the body

Could it be a short chambered lothar walther barrel? The reason I say this is because they are harder to machine and could of dulled it being a steel reamer instead of carbide.

Never had a problem cutting one, never had a need for a carbide reamer; they are for high production facilities.
